Janathon 2017 Day 14 – Volunteering

Janathon 2017 Day 14 – Volunteering

Janathon 2017 Day 14 - Volunteering

One of this years resolutions is to get my purple parkrun volunteer shirt. To get this shirt you need to volunteer at parkrun 25 times. So far I have volunteered 4 times in 2016. That means that this year I’ll need to do it for at least 21 more times. My plan is to volunteer every third time i.e. 2 runs and then volunteer… oh I just worked it out, and I would actually need to volunteer every other week, otherwise it will take me into next year to reach my target!

Today I was a barcode scanner. It was fun, because you get to meet and speak to everyone directly.  You also get to use some technology and wear a high-vis vest!  After the event finished we all headed over to the cricket club. There serve Tea/Coffee and biscuits, and if you’re lucky, cake too!  I brought some coins to actually have a coffee for a change, but inadvertently I ended up helping to sort the tokens too.  I had forgotten my glasses too, so it was difficult.  I’m half expecting to see a picture me trying to focus hard to read the numbers on the tokens.  Token sorting is an additional volunteer role.  I wonder if that counts for 2 points towards my 25!?!

Due to not running at Parkrun, I decided to get up and do my run early. I managed just over 1.5 miles. It was day 45 for my run streak, and the end of week 2 of Janathon. I wanted to run again this evening as I should have done around 7 km. But I wasn’t able to.

Todays total: 2.74 km (1.7 miles)
Janathon Total: 65.34 km (40.7 miles)
