I caught the running bug, back in October 2013, whilst in Ottawa, when I started the C25K (Couch to 5K) program. I loved it! I used the iPhone free app by Zen labs – it starts you off with running for 30 seconds and then walking for 90 second intervals, and progresses until you’re able to run a full 30 minutes. In this 30 minutes you should be able to run the 5K, I wasn’t able to achieve 5K but running for 30 minutes non stop was achieved, and I was so ecstatic about it! I couldn’t believe it! I did my first official 5K race on 7th December 2013. Whilst running through that finish line… I fell in love … with running! And I have been doing it ever since. I’m running further and further as time goes on. By the time my first running anniversary came around, I had completed not one, but 2 Half Marathons! Who would have thought it!
So the blog has evolved to talk about, and track, my progress in running, and the races I compete in. My blog title depicts me … I am a runner, I can now say that 🙂 and I do love purple.
Why purple, it is very appealing to me.. it is a colour that I am drawn to! It’s a warm and cool colour all in one. I tend to wear something purple all the time, especially when I am running. I almost always wear this cap, you see in the profile pic, and the running capris/tights I have are either solid purple, or black with purple pattern or ribbing. I loved the idea that I was in the Purple Corral for my two Half Marathons too!… even though it means being in one of the back corrals. That will soon change though, but I am happy for now.
